Sometimes sitting in front of a computer for hours isn't ideal for learning and productivity. This section will offer Lifelong Learners additional resources and activities to learn at home. Learning at your own pace allows you to make up your own schedule and take those well-needed "mental" breaks.

More activities will become available as the presentations become digitized. Regularly stop by to see what you can learn at home.

World Radio Day: War of the Worlds (1938 CBS Radio Drama)

In February 2020, Lifelong Learning celebrated World Radio Day, held internationally on February 13th, with two radio themed activities. The War of the Worlds, based on 1898 novel by HG Wells, was an episode of the CBS radio drama anthology series called Mercury Theater on the Air. The story was directed and narrated by Orson Welles as a special Halloween episode and aired on 30 October 1938. The broadcast became infamous for fooling listeners into believing there was an actual Martian Invasion. Learn why below and hear the original 1938 broadcast that tricked an entire nation and solidified Orson Welles as one of the greatest actors and directors in movie and television history.
